ALAN – Brand Overview

ALAN is an Italian bicycle manufacturer founded in 1972 by engineer Lodovico Falconi.
The brand name “ALAN” comes from the first two letters of his children’s names: ALberto and ANnamaria.

ALAN was a pioneer in the use of aerospace-grade aluminum for bicycle frames, introducing an innovative construction method in which tubes were bonded (glued) into lugs instead of being welded. This technique became a hallmark of the brand.

In 1976, ALAN was among the first companies to produce a carbon-fiber frame, using Toray carbon tubes bonded to aluminum lugs—a revolutionary concept at the time.

Over the decades, ALAN frames achieved great success in cyclocross, earning multiple World Championship titles thanks to their lightweight construction and responsive ride quality.

Alan Titanium Frame (1996)

This exceptionally rare Alan Titanio frame dates from late 1996.
Key characteristics include:

  • Constructed from very light and stiff titanium tubes

  • Equipped with an alloy (aluminum) fork, finished in silver

  • Features internal rear brake cable routing for a cleaner aesthetic

  • Extremely limited production — rumors suggest that only around 10 titanium Alan frames were ever made

This frame is considered a collector’s piece due to its rarity and its unique place in ALAN’s manufacturing history.
